The Funky Room has been a favourite among locals since 1995—and for those who stumble upon it by accident, it’s a place they never want to leave.

Born inside the legendary and iconic Pacha Nightclub, the Funky Room quickly became a hidden temple of funky house grooves and Balearic spirit for those who knew. It was never about posing or prestige—it was about music, movement, and connection.

The concept and vision were created over 30 years ago by Vaughan Afrika, one of the original faces of Ibiza. Arriving on the island in the early ’80s, Vaughan became a legendary podium dancer at Pacha and helped shape the original Funky Room into what would become an underground institution.

If you’re lucky, you may still catch him doing what he does best—hosting, dancing, and embodying the original Ibiza vibe. For those who return year after year, his presence is as iconic as his style, energy, and legendary dance moves, seen across the island’s biggest clubs over the decades.

And if you’re not brave enough—or perhaps not quite drunk enough—to open that mysterious blue door, you might never discover this incredible little club.

To this day, we work hard to preserve the Funky Room’s intimate spirit and authentic experience—one that has transcended generations, love, and time across three cosmic decades. The same passion and energy that defined day one still pulses through the room today.

The Funky Room is now located in Ibiza Town, within the historic Sa Penya Quarter (The Rock), directly at the foot of the fortified bastion wall of Santa Llúcia, just 100 metres from the sloped rampart entrance to Dalt Vila.

The ambience is irresistible. Set in what was once a whitewashed fishing district, the surrounding narrow cobbled streets are lined with white walls, crimson accents, and vibrant bougainvillea in classic Iberican style. By day, the area is full of charm and character; by night, Sa Penya comes alive—having organically evolved into Ibiza Town’s bohemian, trendy quarter and the pulsing heart of its nightlife.

We also keep excellent company. The location hosts the world-renowned International Music Summit (IMS) each April, which takes place directly above the Funky Room atop the same bastion wall. Founded by Pete Tong, Danny Whittle, and other industry pioneers, IMS marks the opening of the Ibiza season and brings together the global electronic music community for knowledge, culture, and celebration.

Our Ibizan resident DJs know exactly how to move this iconic dancefloor—and keep it moving all night long—with a blend of funky classic house, disco, funk, and old-school Balearic vibes.

We rock the casbah from 9pm till 3am, and we open to party—not to get rich. Drinks are reasonably priced, hugs are free, and the energy is real. As an intimate space, events often sell out fast, so reservations are highly recommended.

This is a place where you might find yourself dancing next to one of the resident DJ’s mums—or shoulder to shoulder with a favourite celebrity or superstar DJ. We don’t do VIP. We transcend generations, classes, and cultures. Families, friends, locals, and travellers all dance together here—for the love of music and the shared cultural experience.

Our resident DJs are carefully curated for the same reason, and are as iconic as the club’s reputation itself. Alongside them, some of the finest island and international names appear by invitation or spontaneously, playing one-night-only or pop-up sets through our Casa Iconica (House Icons) specials—delivering rhythms and vibes that make it very hard to leave.
